However, since two or three days I can suddenly not anymore invoke FinderPop by clicking into the unused area of the menubar. Up to a couple of days ago FinderPop worked perfectly fine on my Mac with macOS 10.12 Sierra. I also did not do anything (including no updates) to the system between the last day it worked and then suddenly did not work anymore. FinderPop was pre-OS X, and many users saw that it was good.

It could be that FinderPop stopped working correctly after installing the Beta 1 driver several weeks ago and then went back to normal after updating the to the Beta 2 driver. The main monitor (which has the menu bar in it) is connected to the Thunderbolt port, the second monitor is connected to the HDMI port, the third monitor is (with a Displaylink adapter) connected to a USB port - and I did actually update the driver for the Displaylink adapter just a couple of days ago from their version 3.0.0 Beta 1 to 3.0.0 Beta 2.
